HTS 8536.50 – Electrical Switches (≤1kV)

HTS 8536.50 covers push-button, toggle, rocker, rotary, and tact switches for low-voltage (≤1kV) applications. The MFN base rate is free. Japanese brands (OMRON, Panasonic, Alps) face 15%. Chinese-origin switches face 40%. For high-reliability applications requiring OMRON or Panasonic switches, sourcing from Japanese fabs avoids the China surcharge. Many commodity switches have shifted to Malaysian or Vietnamese assembly to achieve the lower 15% rate.
